Getting the right support

The services and supports Nicholas requires are crucial to his health and wellbeing. Unfortunately, when Nicholas received his NDIS plan, it was under-funded, largely due to the fact that his family weren’t aware of the preparation they needed to do before heading into their son’s planning meeting. The family had no choice but to pay for some services themselves – putting an unnecessary financial burden on them.

It was around this time that Nicholas’s family decided to move their plan management services to Blitzit Plan Manager. In consultation with his family, we worked out which services and supports Nicholas needed to support his disability. Together, we completed a budget for each provider and support category in conjunction with the funds allocated in Nicholas’s plan. 

Educating people about the NDIS is an important part of how we help families like Nicholas’s. We helped the family to gather quotes, so we had a clear monetary understanding of what service providers Nicholas required in each category of his plan. Our friendly team also attended a meeting with Nicholas’s mother and his local area coordinator to present the information and support the mother during this process. 

Nicholas successfully received a new plan with the requested funding, so he now gets the supports and services he needs. Through what was originally an overwhelming and confusing process, Nicholas and his family discovered how getting the right support can put you on the right path.
